Creation

Alexander Bashlachev met with Artemy Troitsky in 1984 in Cherepovets. At the invitation of the latter, he played a number of apartments in Leningrad and Moscow. In the autumn of 1984 he left Cherepovets, first for Moscow, later for Leningrad.

The following year, Sasha takes part in the video work of Alexei Uchitel, who shot the documentary "Rock" (later a scene from Alexander's funeral was added to the picture).

In the summer of the same year, he participates in the 5th Rock Club Festival and receives the Hope prize as a result. Then he composes his last song, the text of which, unfortunately, has been lost.

Personal life

During his short life, SashBash did not have time to get married. At the time of his death, he met with the daughter of film director R. Rakhlin Anastasia. When and under what circumstances they met is unknown, but six months after Sasha's death, the girl gave birth to a son, Yegor.

Boris Grebenshchikov said: “Bashlachev made a very strong first impression. A collision with a person who has a gift by nature and who knows how to use it gives the impression that he looked into a burning stove. This inner heat, this choking stream always has a strong effect on anyone, it cannot but act. Everyone has this very gift, God's gift, just one in a hundred thousand brings it to mind. Bashlachev almost brought him down, although he could not, in my opinion, technically cope with him to the end. Everyone forgets when they say how great he was, that he never managed to frame himself rhythmically - so that he could be recorded in the studio, on good equipment. Its flow is very bubbling, very uneven. He was fundamentally unprofessional. For example, I sat at Lipnitsky's for several months, tried to write down something, but it didn't work out. Or rather, something happened, but not that, not quite that ... Because when he is even, he is not interested in himself. That's why he was a unique figure, he did not even fit into the framework in which he worked, he still got out of them. And to be honest, I couldn’t listen to him much ... "


In March 1985, Bashlachev's first public performance took place in Leningrad, during which he, along with Yuri Shevchuk, sang several songs at an unofficial concert in the hall of a medical school. A recording of this concert was later released in 1995 by Manchester Files under the title "Kochegarka". In the same 1985, at the studio of Alexei Vishnya in Leningrad, Bashlachev recorded the album “Third Capital”, and a year later he finally chose Leningrad as his place of residence, where he joined a local rock club, participated in the oral release of the magazine “Roxy” and worked in the well-known to all fans rock music of the boiler house "Kamchatka". Bashlachev wore three bells around his neck. A characteristic sound that is heard on most of his recordings is also the sound of bells on the bracelet worn by Bashlachev when he performed his songs with a guitar.

During January 1986, two recordings of Bashlachev's songs were made, subsequently considered by publishers as studio recordings - a recording at A. Ageev's home studio and a recording of a concert at the Taganka Theater. In May 1986, the last surviving song called "Cherry" was written in Cherepovets.


In early 1987, Bashlachev gave several apartment concerts, and from March to May he starred in the documentary film "Rock" by Alexei Uchitel. But in the process of filming, he unexpectedly refused his role, and frames with his participation were cut from the film. But later, the picture included some shots taken during Bashlachev's performance at the fifth rock festival, where Bashlachev received the Hope prize. After that, Bashlachev appeared at the festival in Chernogolovka near Moscow, and took part in the work on the film by Pyotr Soldatenkov "Bards of the passage yards." However, this time, for unknown reasons, Bashlachev again changed his mind about filming at the last moment. And in August, Alexander wrote his last song, which was not preserved, just as the attempt to professionally record Bashlachev's songs for the release of a record in the Leningrad branch of the Melodiya company failed.

Alexei Didurov said: “He appeared in my communal apartment in Stoleshnikovo a year before the explosive 1985 Artem Troitsky called the main obstetrician of domestic rock “I want to bring you a phenomenal guy from Cherepovets, he knows your songs, wants to show his own.” After hearing Bashlachev's songs, I realized that something had to be done. I called all my acquaintances on the radio and on TV with Theme, all the apartment parties - and the organization of home concerts did not linger for a long time. With mass media, everything turned out to be more difficult. Today, marveling at the number of superlatives and majestic pathos in the assessments of Bashlachev's work, I remember Sasha's white from anger and heartache, but his face and naively rounded eyes with a mute question, to which I gave a banal and useless answer: "Sasha, they are just afraid of you , because if they allow Bashlachev's genie to break out of the bottle, they themselves will have to collect bottles for food at the entrances, because then you will raise the bar of artistic quality to such a height that neither they nor their kind from their gang can take! Sasha laughed hoarsely - his voice was permanently broken at countless, endless performances at the capital's get-togethers. The metaphor of collecting bottles worked medicinally, since Sasha and I often earned our daily bread during his races with this very popular type of work in our circle. Only later I realized that any medicine needs to be changed over time, a person gets used to it, and it stops healing. And most of all - when trying to treat the word of the masters thereof, Lord, he himself did with the word what he wanted! Many cascades of rhyming per stanza, multi-stringed sound recording, I'm not talking about the burning content - after Sasha's concerts, people felt themselves scorched by the spiritual lava of the creation of Bashlachev's world. Our world, but explained, clarified and presented to us, like a judging mirror blinding to tears. Then, when Sasha was alive, I recounted to him several times my conversation with Okudzhava, at the end of which Bulat Shalvovich said: “Lyosha, everything will be published with you, you just need to try to live up to it.” Sasha did not live - they did not have enough strength to try, they went into songs.



In the last year of his life, Bashlachev clearly experienced an internal crisis, the causes of which remained unclear. Perhaps it was the inadequacy of the perception of the surrounding reality. He made repeated suicide attempts, one of which occurred on the eve of the fifth rock festival. In early 1988, Bashlachev gave several concerts in Moscow and planned new performances, but the concert at Marina Timasheva's apartment on 29 January 1988 proved to be his last performance. On February 17, 1988, Alexander Bashlachev, after returning to St. Petersburg, committed suicide by throwing himself from the ninth floor of an apartment on Kuznetsova Avenue. Later that year, his son Yegor was born.

Bashlachev left a completely unique legacy to his descendants. In a short period of time, he created more than sixty songs, the formation of the style of which and his poetic language was influenced by the song poetry of Vysotsky and Galich, the songs of Grebenshchikov and Naumenko, poetic experiments of the beginning of the century and ancient Russian epic poetry. Bashlachev created his own artistic world, the influence of which, in turn, is noticeable in many songs of the groups "Alisa", "Kino", "Kalinov Most" and many other rock bands.


In 1991, the publishing house "New Helikon" released a collection of songs and poems by Bashlachev "Pososhok", and since 1989, several dozen records, cassettes and CDs with concert recordings by Bashlachev, whose work has become one of the most significant phenomena in Russian rock music, have been published. . In his multi-layered, full of unexpected associations, paradoxical humor and virtuoso wordplay, bold rhymes and complex meter verses-songs, archaism and modernity, epic stories and the realities of rock life, frank buffoonery and high tragedy are intricately intertwined. Boris Grebenshchikov said: “It seems to me that he took more than he could already pull out, and overstrained himself. The Moscow intelligentsia raised him on a shield and carried him with a cry. Shouldn't have done it. It is very difficult to feel like a genius when you are still quite a young person. And now they tell him that he is a genius, but he has not yet managed to find his legs, has not had time to digest the material. If he knew more, he wouldn't have jumped out of the window. In my opinion, he was let down by the fact that a lot was expected of him. And it is half a year or more, a year is dry, nothing can be squeezed out of it. It's scary, I know. It’s scary… But I’m, excuse me, over fifty, I can live with it, because I know that it will pass, but he couldn’t know this at his twenty-seven years old…”


Alexander Bashlachev was buried in St. Petersburg at the Kovalevsky cemetery.
