Go to the Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier’s Civilization V folder and delete all .wmv files. You can first save these files in some other folder, but you should not be afraid to delete them, since these are just files with introductory videos present in the game.
Open the \My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier’s Civilization 5 folder, then find the UserSettings.ini file and open it with any text editor. Find the SkipIntroVideo parameter and set it to “1”, that is, it should look like this: SkipIntroVideo = 1.
The first option is to open the Users\USERNAME\Documents\my games\Sid Meier’s Civilization 5 folder and delete all its contents. This folder contains all your game progress, so if you don’t want to lose it, save these files in some other place so you can restore it later.
If it doesn’t help, then the second option: delete not only saves, but also maps, mods and all other add-ons that you installed.
You can also try to upload files from another user whose game works correctly into the Users\USERNAME\Documents\my games\Sid Meier’s Civilization 5 folder.
Run the game as an administrator: right-click on the game launcher -> Properties -> Compatibility and select “Run this program as an administrator.”
Update all drivers that are installed on your computer. Most often the problem lies in the video card drivers.
It would be a good idea to update or reinstall DirectX. To do this, open Steam\SteamApps\common\sid meier’s civilization v\DirectX and run the DXSetup.exe file.
