Pork shish kebab in a jar in the oven. Shish kebab in a jar Shish kebab in the oven in a glass jar

Few people will refuse delicious, aromatic kebab. However, more and more often, either the weather does not indulge us with the opportunity to get out into nature, or work does not let us go, even a day outside the city seems to many to be an unaffordable luxury. There is a way out - cook shish kebab at home, bake the meat in the oven in a jar. If you think that you will get ordinary baked meat, then you are mistaken. Tender, aromatic, as if just taken from the grill, the kebab can be cooked in the oven: in a jar, on skewers, the meat will turn out simply incredibly tasty.

A few tricks to add to your collection

There are several general points, and we will discuss them right away.

First– meat for homemade barbecue is cut into fairly small pieces, so chicken breast, pork tenderloin, and ham are suitable. But the neck, which has quite a lot of fat, is less suitable in this case.

Second– the meat should be very fresh and only from young animals, since the cooking time is shorter and the temperature in the oven is lower than over the coals in the grill.

Third– for the homemade version, we choose fairly lean meat, so that the kebab in a three-liter jar in the oven will turn out juicy and tender if you string pieces of bacon or brisket on skewers between the pieces of meat.

Fourth– we select the jar no less carefully: in no case should it have chips or glass defects (bubbles, cracks), wash it properly using baking soda, and rinse it very well. The jar must be dry when you put it in the oven, otherwise it may crack, so wipe it thoroughly or wait until it is completely dry.

Fifth– before putting meat on them, wooden skewers should be soaked in water for at least an hour, or better yet, left overnight.

Well, the sixth- marinade for barbecue. There are an incredible number of options for prepping meat, use the one you like best.

Additional tip: Some people advise adding liquid smoke to a jar of shish kebab - supposedly this will give the meat a specific campfire aroma. For our body, carcinogens that are absorbed into meat are extremely harmful, but you decide what is more important: a pleasant aroma or health, yours and your loved ones.

But it doesn't matter. Everything can be done at home. And shish kebab cooked at home in a jar is in no way inferior to that cooked in the forest over coals. Therefore, we offer you this unusual, but also quite simple recipe for cooking shish kebab in a jar.

How to cook shish kebab in a glass jar in the oven

Ingredients needed for making barbecue:

  • pork meat (beef or lamb is possible) - 1 kg;
  • bacon - 350 gr.;
  • water - 100 milliliters;
  • 2-3 medium sized onions;
  • juice of half a lemon;
  • salt, pepper and coriander;
  • spices to taste.

Let's move on to the actual preparation of the kebab.

We take the meat and cut it into pieces as for a regular barbecue, only a little smaller. Place the meat in a deep plate. Salt, pepper, add spices and sprinkle with lemon juice. Cut the onion into rings and add to the meat, fill it all with water and leave the meat to marinate for about an hour. But to marinate the meat more, it can be marinated for a longer time. About one and a half to two hours.

After the meat has been marinated, we begin to thread it onto a skewer. First, thinly slice the bacon. Then we first string the bacon onto the skewer, then the marinated meat, and if you like, we also string the onion between them. You can also string between them, for example, small tomatoes or small slices of bell pepper.

After this, put the remaining onions after marinating on the bottom of a three-liter jar and put four or five (as many as will fit) skewers with shish kebab into the jar. Skewers should not be very long. On top, when the skewers with meat have already been placed in the jars, cover everything with foil. The outside of the jar should not be wet.

The jar of kebab should be placed in a cold oven. Otherwise, when you put it in a preheated oven, the jar may burst. Turn on the oven to heat up to about 200 degrees and bake the kebab in a glass jar for an hour, a maximum of one and a half hours.

After this, turn off the oven, after 15-20 minutes, carefully remove the jar of cooked shish kebab.

Be careful! Due to the temperature difference, the jar may burst. To avoid this, place the jar only on a fabric or wooden surface.
